TIROLWOOL® in ZANIER gloves

Our commitment as a family business is to be the only glove manufacturer worldwide with a CO2-neutral collection. We want to preserve the natural and cultural space of our home, our playground, which is worth protecting for our children and grandchildren. In line with this philosophy, sustainable or recycled materials are preferred in our collection and are now used in 50% of our products. A perfect match for us as a traditional Tyrolean company is TIROLWOOL® as a natural insulation material.

Wool from Tyrolean mountain sheep has been used as an effective raw material for centuries. Tirolwool® also relies on the strengths of our nature in its production. The company has set itself the goal of supplying a raw material of the highest quality,

while putting sustainability on an equal footing. For this reason, the wool from Tyrolean mountain sheep is processed in such a way that CO2 emissions are kept as low as possible.

Genuine Tyroleans

A narrow, woolly head, long, drooping ears, closed hooves and strong ankles – these are the striking characteristics that make the Tyrolean mountain sheep so unique. Tyrolean mountain sheep live at an altitude of over 2,000 metres under sometimes harsh conditions, where other breeds of sheep could not even survive. The mountain sheep's dense coat provides warmth, insulation and breathability. These sheep weigh between 70 and 130 kilograms on average and have a high reproductive rate. Another characteristic is their medium-fine, white wool. The sheep can be sheared every six months and shed an average of 2.5 kg of wool. Tirolwool® was able to collect over 150 tonnes of virgin sheep's wool last year alone – a sustainable success for agriculture, landscape conservation and hence for the immediate environment too.

The natural Tirolwool® finds its way into ZANIER gloves as insulation for the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service.

Tirolwool® makes virgin sheep's wool into high-quality products. The wool is sustainable, regional and comes directly from the producers. Tirolwool® provides optimum warmth and protection thanks to its washable, chlorine-free wool. The special environmentally friendly process guarantees that the proteins of the wool fibres are kept intact and the wool remains soft, odourless and vapour permeable even after many washes.

Tirolwool® creates a win-win situation for everyone involved – the buyers receive a top-quality product yet contribute to protecting our environment. At the same time, this system allows for fair and better value added for sheep farmers.

The virgin sheep's wool is turned into Tirolwool® in the in-house wool washing plant. The wool has been gently and ecologically washed and finished here in an energy-saving process for wool processors since 1998. We are constantly working on further developing the technologies and processes in the most environmentally friendly way possible, and optimising the plant in terms of energy and waste water.

Tirolwool® is used to produce insulation and building materials (Tirolwool® ISO), high-quality fleeces and felts, design carpets, duvets and functional clothing, for example selected models of our gloves, among other things.

Tirolwool® in the Zanier models in cooperation with the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service

ZANIER not only relies on the best for raw materials but also for product development. We have been cooperating with the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service and developing models that withstand the demands of mountain rescue even under the most adverse conditions for almost 10 years.

Tirolwool® not only provides optimal insulation. Sheep's wool regulates temperature and humidity and is therefore ideal for equipment that is used all year round.

All ZANIER models with Tirolwool® are embroidered with the brand's logo.

They are comfortable due to the 4-way stretch material and pre-shaped, extra reinforced palm made of goatskin. And have a practical Hook loop to attach them to the backpack.
