On the tracks of the downhill legends: Bikepark Schladming

Follow in the footsteps of downhill legends such as the multiple World Cup winner Sam Hill, who chose the Trail Worldcup Downhill at the Bikepark Schladming as one of his favourite tracks! But beware: it's not for the faint-hearted! The rest of the bike park doesn't skimp on flow and airtime either. The total of 40 km of trail fun could not be more varied: Bike park fans of all ages and abilities will find what they are looking for on the 11 trails. In the bike area below the Planai mountain station, newcomers and young bikers can prepare themselves for the trails.

From the mountain to the city: Bikepark Lienz

The Bikepark Lienz is the ideal meeting place for downhill freaks, mountain bikers and enduro fans. Whether children or adults, beginners, hobby or professional riders - all bike fans come together at the foot of the local mountain. Where else does a downhill track end directly in the city? A pump track for warming up, the bike bar as a meeting point and a service station for bikers at the valley station of the Hochstein cable car round off the offer at Bikepark Lienz. Finally, a tip for downhill riding from a pro: "Always stay loose. Push your body weight and your butt backwards, this weight shifting reduces the risk of a rollover. And be sure to bend your knees when riding. This means: Get out of the saddle! Even if the road gets bumpy or narrow - never sit down! You simply have much more control over your body and the bike when standing. Another useful tip is to lower the saddle before riding downhill. This automatically makes it easier to stand", says downhill routinier Renè Unterwurzacher, founder of Ride Free Osttirol.
