The former Austrian ski racer was very successful in the downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom and combined disciplines. Michi started her run of success in the 1999/2000 season with triumphs in the Trofeo Topolino and Whistler Cup. Her first World Cup appearance was in December 2001, followed by a steady rise to the Austrian national team. At the World Championships, she won three gold medals in team competition as well as a silver medal in slalom and two bronze medals in the combination. Michi Kirchgasser officially announced the end of her career at the women's slalom in Ofterschwang on March 10, 2018. She has been part of the soccer coverage team at Austrian private broadcaster ServusTV since September 2021
