With kids in the mountains - not always completely stress-free. Child-friendly slope conditions, offers and infrastructure, short distances and, of course, good ski schools are enormously important when skiing with the family. These 6 ski resorts have delighted us the most:

1. SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Tyrol

- a highlight for the whole family! The „Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser"  in Brixental, which has already been awarded several times as the best family skiing area in Austria, offers almost 250 kilometers of slopes of easy and medium difficulty, 10 kilometers of black slopes for experienced skiers. The extra wide slopes of the SkiWelt Ellmau ensure a joint skiing experience for young and old. In the Kids-SkiWelt in Hochbrixen with Bobo's Miniclub and the Kids' Club, the little ones can easily gain their first experiences on skis – lots of fun included! With its own practice lift and two conveyor belts, Brixen in particular is ideal for getting started with the kids. 22 professional ski schools offer special children's ski courses for children from the age of two. For youngsters, various fun parks, ski courses and ski-movie tracks provide plenty of action.

SkiWelt doesn’t end at sunset: eleven kilometers of illuminated slopes (in Söll) and three illuminated toboggan runs ensure lots of fun on the slopes until late at night - a special highlight especially for youngsters. Our tip: Don’t forget to visit the ALPENIGLU village Hochbrixen!

2. Muttereralm Innsbruck

Skiing with children not far from our home base Innsbruck, and also easy and sustainable to reach by public transport - that's exactly what we want! The Muttereralm is a real family ski paradise. After getting off at the top station of the Muttereralmbahn, the Kinderland is located at 1,620 meters above sea level. There's even a covered magic carpet! Right next door, families will find the ideal practice slope at the Almboden T-bar lift. What excites the little skiers, beginners and the little guests of the ski school the most: The fairy tale forest.

But also advanced skiers get their money's worth on the Muttereralm. The 4-seater chairlift Nockspitzbahn takes you up to 1,804 m to the top station. The FIS course on the "Mutterer" side or the "Götzner Abfahrt" should also offer enough challenge for experts. The Götzner Abfahrt was built at the time as a reserve race course for the Olympic Games. Not only race tracks, there are also two ski schools here. The ski and snowboard school Mutters Natters or the ski school Götzens offer courses for skiers and snowboarders here.

What we particularly like as a CO2-neutral brand: From Innsbruck you can get to the Muttereralm car-free. The ski bus is free for all skiers, they only need the Welcome Card. This is a card that is issued automatically and free of charge to tourism guests by the landlord in the accommodation. So there’s no need to search for a parking space before the family skiing day, just pack your equipment and get on the bus. This way the family ski day can start stress-free.

3. Family ski resort Zettersfeld

A true children's adventure mountain with over 2,000 hours of sunshine per year! The terrain and infrastructure of the Zettersfeld ski area in Lienz, East Tyrol, are ideal for the entire family - it has therefore also been certified as an official family ski area. While parents enjoy generous turns on free slopes, the kids are in good hands at the ski school Lienz. For little adventurers: the slalom & wave course in Bobo's Kinderland right next to the Bidner practice lift. With various events such as a puppet theatre in the snow, a scavenger hunt or the Winter Olympics, the child-friendly offer is rounded off. Hardly any waiting times at the lifts and manageable infrastructure make it possible to enjoy a family lunch together in a rustic, traditional hut with delicious East Tyrolean home cooking. Families particularly appreciate the manageability of the lifts and slopes - here the kids won't get lost.

Ski rental & service for moderate family prices are available directly at the valley station at Joachim's Skishop. By the way, the ticket is also valid for the Hochstein ski area nearby. Our tip: Don't miss the Osttirodler, a spectacular alpine coaster!

4. Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau

Pure family quality time! The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau has also been awarded several times as a top family ski area, and ensures unique fun on the slopes with great wave runs, children's slopes and a speedometer. A large selection of special children's ski schools ensures that the first experiences on skis will be an unforgettable experience. While mom and dad enjoy some togetherness on their ski vacation, the little ones can let off steam in the kids' clubs with childcare. For the youngsters, two snow parks provide plenty of action.

Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau also has a lot to offer off the slopes: Whether spectacular rides with the Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser, as a snowcat co-pilot, building an igloo or a tandem flight!

5. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis

In winter, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis transforms into a fascinating adventure arena: At the huge "KinderSchneelam" practice area at the Komperdellbahn mid-station, a magic carpet, animal park, Berta's Indian Land, a children's stage, happy toboggan run, various adventure courses, children's fun areas and much more await the little ones - a true adventure journey. Extra easy slopes for the little ones and ski beginners, challenging terrain for experienced skiers - there is something for everyone here. The ski resort also offers a great entertainment program off the slopes.

With the child-friendly ski courses and lifts as well as own child care ideal for a ski vacation with the kids - not for nothing is Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis for many visitors the family ski area of Austria par excellence!

6. Zell am See: Schmittenhöhe

Colorful & action-packed - the Schmittenhöhe family ski area in Zell am See. 77 kilometers of slopes for young and old, for little adventurers as well as courageous high-flyers. Especially the moderate ski prices with various specials especially for families convince in this ski resort. Especially popular with the kids: the Schmitten dragon Schmidolin! Along the entire Kidsslope, the little ones learn exciting stories about the Schmitten mascot. Numerous ski schools with top trained ski instructors offer a special program for the skiing offspring. What else does Zell am See have to offer? The largest fun slope in Austria!

The hands are among the parts of the body that cool down most quickly and therefore need special protection. It is therefore all the more important that the gloves for kids fit properly, do not slip, keep warm and offer sufficient freedom of movement for playing and romping around. What to look for when buying gloves for children, we tell you in a separate blog post.
