Are you always cold? Do your hands hurt when you're cold? Raynaud's syndrome is an often underestimated condition, although it affects many people. Especially in the cold season, the symptoms can become a real burden for those affected. At Zanier, we have been dealing with the sensation of cold and Raynaud's syndrome for decades, especially in the context of winter sports, and have a solution for those affected with our heated gloves and heated socks. But first:
What is Raynaud's syndrome?
Raynaud's syndrome is a circulatory disorder that mainly affects the fingers and toes. It occurs when the small blood vessels in these areas overreact to cold or stress. These vessels contract, which greatly reduces blood flow. The result is pale, cold fingers, which can later turn a bluish colour and become numb or painful. This condition is known as a ‘Raynaud's attack’ and can last from minutes to hours.
We spoke with Prof. h.c. Univ.-Doz. Dr Günther Neumayr about Raynaud's syndrome and clarified the contents of this blog with him from a medical perspective. Dr Neumayr is an internist and sports physician in Lienz, East Tyrol, and a member of the board of the Austrian Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention.
There are two forms of the syndrome:
- Primary Raynaud's syndrome: Here the disorder occurs without an underlying disease. It is usually harmless, but can have a significant impact on everyday life, especially in the cold season. Most sufferers consult a doctor, but treatment is much simpler than with the second variant of the disease: according to Dr Neumayr, keeping warm is the top priority with primary Raynaud's syndrome.
- Secondary Raynaud’s syndrome: This form is rarer, but occurs in conjunction with other diseases and requires far more intensive medical care.

Prof. h.c. Univ.-Doz. Dr Günther Neumayr is an internist and sports physician: ‘Keep warm! Treatment for primary Raynaud's syndrome is of course easier than for the more severe, secondary variant.’
How is Raynaud's syndrome triggered?
How is Raynaud's syndrome triggered?
The most common triggers of Raynaud's syndrome are:
- Cold: Even slight changes in temperature can cause an attack.
- Stress: Emotional stress as well as physical stress can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels.
- Vibration: People who regularly work with vibrating devices are exposed to a higher risk.
Why is warmth so important for Raynaud's syndrome sufferers?
Heat plays a key role in the management of Raynaud's syndrome. It not only helps to alleviate the symptoms, but can also prevent attacks. Especially on cold winter days, protecting the extremities is essential for Raynaud's patients. This is where innovative products such as the heatable gloves and socks from Zanier can help. These products have been specially developed for people who are sensitive to the cold or suffer from circulatory disorders such as Raynaud's syndrome.

Why Zanier heated gloves and socks can be the solution for Raynaud's disease
Our Zanier brand has stood for top quality and innovative solutions in the field of mountain sports and outdoor accessories since 1969. With the development of the world's first electrically heated gloves in 1999, we set a new standard for winter sports enthusiasts and people with special requirements for protection against the cold. Today, the Zanier brand stands for reliable heating products and offers a product range that combines comfort, technology and functionality at the highest level.
Zanier heating technology for warm hands and feet
Zanier's heating technology is the result of decades of research and development. The innovative combination of highly developed textile heating elements and an electronic control system ensures reliable and even heat distribution.
- Gloves: The heating elements run across the back of the hand to the fingertips - exactly where heat is needed most. At the same time, the Impulse Control technology stimulates blood circulation, which is particularly beneficial for people with Raynaud's syndrome or other circulatory disorders.
- Socks: The heatable socks from Zanier use extremely lightweight batteries and provide up to 10 hours of warmth. With six heating levels that can be conveniently controlled via a mobile phone app, you can adjust the temperature to suit your individual needs.

The best materials for warm hands and feet
The heated gloves and socks from Zanier combine state-of-the-art materials for maximum comfort and functionality.
- Thermal insulation: Materials such as PrimaLoft® BioTM and merino wool ensure a balanced heat balance, even when the heating is switched off.
- Waterproofness and breathability: SYMPATEX and GORE-TEX membranes protect against moisture while remaining breathable. Only dry hands do not cool down at low temperatures.
- Robustness: High-quality goatskin and 4-way stretch ensure durability and flexibility.
